This guide will walk you through the steps for adding a vehicle to your Stream account.
Please Note
Before adding a vehicle, you need to ensure a suitable Vehicle Type has already been configured in your system. This determines default capacity limits and daily walkaround checks. For details, see our guide on Adding a vehicle type.
Adding a new vehicle
To add a new vehicle in your Stream account:
- From the main menu, navigate to ‘Vehicle Details’
- In the ‘Overview’ section, click the ‘Add’ button
- Fill out the vehicle information in the pop-up window. As a minimum, you will need to add a ‘Registration’, ‘Mileage’ and ‘Vehicle Type’, but it is recommended to add as much detail as possible. Other recommended fields include:
- Name, Make and Model: Enter details for easier fleet identification
- Usual Depot: Assign the vehicle to a primary depot. This ensures the vehicle displays as available at that depot when planning
- Usual Driver: Assign the vehicle to the driver who normally operates it. This can be used to automatically assign the driver when autoplanning runs.
- Payload Capacity: Auto-populates from the selected Vehicle Type, but can be manually adjusted for this specific vehicle (typically measured in kg)
- Cube Capacity: Auto-populates from the selected Vehicle Type, but can be manually adjusted for this specific vehicle (typically measured in m³)
- Click ‘Save Vehicle’
Please Note
If your drivers use the Turn GPS Navigation app, additional dimension and weight fields must be completed to enable accurate route calculation. For more details, see our guide on Setting up vehicles for using Turn GPS.
Default vehicle booking schedules
If the assigned Vehicle Type has default bookings configured, Stream will prompt you to generate a booking schedule immediately after saving the new vehicle.
