Enable your transport planning team to handle increased order volumes with ease with our latest feature in Stream: Auto Allocation.
Auto Allocation allows users to automatically allocate orders to runs based on pre-defined criteria as soon as they’re confirmed in Stream.
Benefits of Auto Allocation
- Speed up the planning process by automatically assigning orders to runs as soon as they’re created and confirmed, significantly reducing manual planning time and streamlining the order management process
- Users have the flexibility of matching runs by a postcode or route code (run description), and stops by delivery postcode and location reference.
- By taking advantage of auto-allocating orders to a single run, users can consolidate delivery times and deliveries for more efficient routing and fewer trips.
How do I use auto allocation in my route planning process?
Auto-Allocate allows you to sort orders onto runs that meet the pre-defined criteria below.
These rules control how a run is found for order allocation and how stop matching is performed:
- Postcode: Criteria one will match orders to runs that already have stops sharing the same postcode. Simple and effective!
- Route code: If you’re using specific “Route Info” on your orders (like “Refrigerated”), criteria two will match that against the description of your runs. Auto-allocation uses this “Route Info” to find the earliest available run that matches the same name/code.
Matching stops by:
- Delivery postcode
- Location reference
Once these rules have been set, whenever an order is confirmed, Stream finds the most appropriate run for it .
If you’re using “master runs” with pre-planned stops, Auto-Allocate can even match orders to specific slots within that run using the delivery postcode or location reference.
Even better, auto-allocate can add multiple orders if the run has the same location reference or description, which is perfect for consolidating deliveries and making the most of consolidated delivery times.

A note for users uploading orders via API or CSV:
If you’re using the API or CSV order upload, you can specify if a particular order shouldn’t be allocated. You can also define the earliest date and time from which orders can be allocated; auto-allocate uses the current date, the order’s live date, or the passed date, whichever is latest.
How much does Auto-Allocate cost?
Auto-Allocate in Stream is available within the Pro and Enterprise Plans. If you’d like to learn more about using Auto-Allocate in your existing Stream subscription, contact our sales team.
