How we are supporting Blood Bikes charities

We are incredibly proud of the help that we’re able to offer to a number of Blood Bikes charities, supporting them with Stream Check, which allows them to perform walkaround checks and report any defects, get them resolved quickly and ensure their bikes are kept roadworthy and operational so they’re ready to go whenever called upon.

During normal working hours, the NHS and Charitable Health Organisations use their own transportation systems to transport Blood, Plasma, Tissue Samples, Documentation and other vital supplies between Hospitals, Hospices and Supply Centres.

However, out of hours these systems are not available, and the reliance falls upon Private Hire Taxi Companies, Couriers and in exceptional circumstances, Emergency Services such as the Police or Ambulance Service and this is where Blood Bikes are able to offer their support.

“We are using Stream Check for vehicle safety and motorcycle maintenance as availability is top priority. The ability to send photos, do checks quickly and track servicing is absolutely essential. We have a duty of care to our riders, to hospitals and to patients and we are an emergency service. Our Charity is functioning much more efficiently and our riders are safer. The support has been outstanding. Knowledgeable people, who are dedicated to our success.”
– YFW Blood Bikes

Blood Bikes charities are run by teams of volunteers of give up their free time to support the emergency transportation of vital bodily tissues, equipment and supplies, and so having that peace of mind that a bike is ready for action at any given moment is incredibly important.

Between the companies that we support, they’ve completed tens of thousands of successful deliveries to transport medical materials, bodily tissues and equipment across the UK in emergency situations, not only saving the NHS thousands of pounds in the process, but also saving thousands of lives.

Originally named Warwickshire Freewheelers, its operating statement was ‘To relieve sickness and protect health by the provision of transporting urgently needed blood, drugs, human tissue and other medical requirements between hospitals and blood transfusion banks”.
