The prestigious SHD Logistics Award 2015 in the Innovation Technology category was won for the implementation of STREAM, an order, delivery and transport management software application by Proximity at Scandinavian House.

The awards celebrate excellence in the logistics industry, across eleven main categories.

Running on the IBM i platform using Zend Server, STREAM is delivered as a cloud solution with access via the Internet and the mobile app for drivers.

STREAM can also be delivered as an on premise solution and has already been integrated with applications such as Infor’s LX and BPCS enterprise resource planning software solutions.

Scandinavian House implemented STREAM delivering ‘measureable improvement in areas such as efficiency, accuracy and productivity as a result of the deployment of a product within the supply chain’.

Dave Pickburn, Managing Director at Proximity and Scandinavian House directors, Anne and Dan Ridgway collected the award from acclaimed comedian and TV presenter Romesh Ranganathan at the ceremony in London’s Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square.

Dave Pickburn said: “We are delighted to have won this prestigious award. STREAM has been developed by Proximity over the past three years using PHP. The application shows just how flexible, powerful and open the IBM i can be for developing highly innovative and modern software applications. These are exciting times for STREAM, as we have also recently become Zend business partners and launched an integration with Brightpearl, a leading multi-channel retail platform to provide a complete end-to-end retail and delivery management solution.”

Anne Ridgway said: “STREAM has become an integral part of our business, enabling us to expand capacity significantly and operate more efficiently. It has given us the ability to be in complete control of customer orders with real time data available instantly so we can deliver better customer services to all our partners.”

Peter MacLeod, Editor of SHD Logistics, said: “I congratulate Proximity and Scandinavian House – very deserving winners. Following the implementation of STREAM, Scandinavian House saw a 60% reduction in call volumes and cost and has the ability to expand its business without further headcount and boasts effective communication for customers and partners.”

Scandinavian House has been supplying high-quality children’s bedroom and furniture products through mid and high-end retailers for more than 10 years. They have developed close relationships with independent stores, multiples, e-retailers and mail order customers alike. Their high quality products are manufactured in Europe, imported and then delivered to consumers throughout the UK.
