STREAM for vehicle logistics and car transport companies has been launched, with a host of features designed specifically for the vehicle transport industry.

Using STREAM will make the whole process of car transportation quicker and easier, resulting in time and cost savings: both drivers’ time spent on the road, and back-office time spent planning routes and communicating with depots, car dealerships, and auction houses.

So, how can STREAM specifically help vehicle logistics operations? Here are just a few ways the order-to-delivery process for auto transport can be improved.

MAP-BASED DELIVERY ROUTE OPTIMISATION

STREAM’s existing map-based route optimisation has been optimised to calculate multi-trip runs, which take into account several collection and delivery locations.

ORDER MANAGEMENT

A brand new feature of STREAM, developed specifically for car transport delivery, is the option for orders to quickly and easily be entered directly into STREAM’s back-office interface (a feature which we plan to roll out to all STREAM users). The order entry function eliminates the need for complicated spreadsheets, or additional software integrations, and allows back office staff to plan collection and delivery routes in real-time and ‘in-flight’. A few key features of the new order entry function, which make it perfectly suited to auto transport, include:

  • When collection and delivery addresses are entered for a customer, the system will ‘remember’ and suggest all addresses associated with that customer, including previous collection and delivery addresses
  • Two types of note can now be added to deliveries: location notes, which stay in place for all future collections and deliveries at a location (for example, the instruction “always approach from the A45” will also be valid the next time a driver attends that location); or trip specific notes, such as an instruction to “Contact depot manager on arrival”
  • STREAM’s order entry function allows the optimisation of collections and deliveries to be much more flexible as a new order can be taken and the route optimised while a driver is on the road. New collections and deliveries are communicated to the driver via STREAM’s mobile app
  • Within the order management system, financial details, including price charged to the customer, and total cost of the trip, can now be entered to allow you to calculate profitability by each individual order. All of which works in real-time.

MOBILE DRIVER APP WITH ELECTRONIC PROOF OF COLLECTION AND PROOF OF DELIVERY

The driver app has also been optimised specifically for vehicle logistics drivers. Key features include the recording of vehicle condition on collection and delivery, via the ePOD feature. We know that properly recording and signing off damage is absolutely key to successful (and profitable) car transport delivery, so the driver app now prompts drivers to record any damage / defects to each vehicle as it is loaded and delivered; taking a time- and location- stamped photo of any damage / defects; and ensuring that drivers collect signatures for each delivered vehicle. Drivers also have to record the number of keys provided for the vehicle and if a log book is present.

Should the need arise, drivers can also add additional vehicles at the time of collection (provided they have space on the transporter).
